Oliver known to some as ‘George’ and to others as ‘Smithy’, sadly passed away at Scarborough General Hospital Toronto, Canada on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 79.

Oliver will be lovingly remembered by his children Pam, Patricia, Michelle, Patrick, Petal and Dr Belinda Smith. He was the father-in-law of Lamont Sr, Trevlan and Basil.

He was grandfather to Jelisa, Velonis, Jason, Mariah, Jermaine, Stephon, Lamont Jr, Javon, Steven, Jayden, Labroun, Zamaya, Laryssa, Harmony, Johnathan, Destiny and Atalya. He was great grandfather to Lorenzo, Nickel, Zachariah, Isiss, Iziaha, Kaiden, Maia Nathan, Natasia, Kamoniy and Jhamarii.

Oliver was the Dear brother of Wilbert Smith, brother-in-law to Alyson Smith; uncle to Jabez, Nathan, Samuel; adopted brother to Carlton Bailey and adopted uncle to John Bailey.

Oliver was a good friend to many who remember him as caring, hardworking, smart, diligent, loyal, sociable and committed. He was born in Georgetown, Guyana and grew up in Linden. He was a devoted Lodge member in Guyana and in Canada where he resided. He will be missed by his family, friends, neighbours and the Lodge community whom he served diligently over the years as High Priest, Past District Grand Master and Secretary.

The Smith family will receive relatives and friends for Viewing at The Simple Alternative, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering, Ontario L1W 3T7, on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 4 - 8 pm.
Final Viewing at The Simple Alternative will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2024 from 10 - 11 am, followed by the funeral service.
Internment will follow at Duffin Meadows Cemetery, 2505 Brock Road North, Pickering, Ontario L1X 0K3.
