In memory of

Norman Gerald Harris

August 31, 1930 -  April 17, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Gerald Harris on April 17, 2020 at the age of 89 due to complications from COVID-19.

Norm was born in Saint-Jean-Sur- Richelieu, Quebec on August 31, 1930 to Robert and Gladys (nee Pugh). He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Eleanor (nee Munro). He was the father of three loving sons, Darren, Kevin (Patty), and Robert (Lorraine). ‘Papa Norm’ was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, Mitchell, Brynn and Jeremy. Norm was close to his late brother Terry, Terry’s wife Barbara, and their son John. He was a dear brother-in-law to Jim and Willie, Bob and Betty, Dave and Jessie and will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Norm worked for the Royal Bank of Canada for thirty-seven years and retired as a branch manager in 1987. He loved life and enjoyed his retirement to the fullest travelling with Eleanor on their many trips throughout Europe. Norm was an avid gardener and especially proud of his roses. He enjoyed a good imported beer, sports cars and fine art. He loved all sports, whether it was watching the Leafs, being involved with his boys’ teams growing up or attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events. Always quick witted and ready with a joke, Norm had a great sense of humour. His smile was infectious and he would often say “You have to laugh”.

There will be a celebration of Norm’s life held at a later time for all family and friends to reminisce and share stories. For those wishing donations can be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada.

So many fond memories of Norm and the Harris household when we were teenagers. Norm had the best sense of humor and you never left without having a laugh with him.
All the best to the family and especially Eleanor.
