In memory of

Norma Lundberg

Norma June Lundberg passed away on Monday, November 8, 2022 at age 76. Norma died after a two-and-a-half year struggle with cancer and cancer treatments. Norma contributed to the many communities where she lived over the years -- as a researcher and teacher of art for young people, a gallery curator, craft council organizer, and as a life-long gifted reader, reviewer, essayist and writer. She published works in Resources for Feminist Research, Atlantis, Matriart, ARC Poetry Review, Malahat Review, and Craft Factor. Her PhD thesis, "The Social Organization Of Birth Control Information In Public Libraries", began with graduate studies in library science which grew to include work in women's studies. Norma was never afraid to take on challenges, always learning and offering help to others. She loved exploring different cultures and new languages, which she pursued with wonderful enthusiasm, persistence and insight. She was always exploring and finding connections between stories, poetry and ideas.

Our deeply beloved Norma is survived by her husband Brian Lesser and their daughter Emma, brother and sister-in-law Ralph & Ann Lundberg, brother-in-law Robert Lesser and nephews Peter and Ian Lundberg and their families.

Norma was preceded by her parents Charles and Emma Lundberg.

Her family treasures the memory of the joy, compassion, and rich appreciation for life that she brought to us, as we grieve for all the experiences we are unable to share with her now and in the future. Thank you to all of you who were a part of her life. We plan to hold an online gathering for friends and family to celebrate her life together on Saturday April 15, 2023 at 4 PM eastern. For more information regarding the online memorial, please contact Brian Lesser (blesser@torontomu.ca).

Norma and I met in a poetry class at U of T and shared our love of poetry, literature and music over countless cups of tea for many years. I miss her company and warm friendship.
