It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nita Holroyd (Hall) on Friday, May 22nd at the age of 83. Beloved mother of Michael Holroyd (and Leslie), Jacqueline Wees, and Christine Williams (Charles) and loving Nana of Hayden, Maggie and Olivia.
She is survived by her siblings, Ernie Hall (Mary), Renee Garside (Dennis), Gladys Fabische (Reiner), Peter Hall (Pat), and Julie Harding (Steve).
Nita emigrated from England to Canada with her husband (Peter) and their three children in June of 1968. Her sisters Renee and Gladys had arrived in Canada prior to 1968, and the combined families spent countless holidays and Christmases together. Family trips often included visits to Wasaga beach and cottages at Honey Harbour and Balm beach.
Nita enjoyed traveling home to the UK for weddings and family visits. She also travelled frequently to Maple Ridge, BC, to visit her sister Gladys and family.
Some of Nita’s proudest moments were in the role of Mother of the Bride and Groom on her children’s wedding days. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren and the children within her extended family. She would often sing to them, and in her later years played cards and bingo with them.
Nita’s final days were spent at the local nursing home in Port Perry, where her daughter Jacqueline resides. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the nurses, PSWs and staff for their patience and kindness towards mum. Our caring and devoted sister Jaqueline was by our mother’s side during her last month, which was spent in palliative care. When our dear mother took her final breath and left us to be with God, Jaqueline was there.
We know that mum took all the love of her family with her as she ascended into heaven, where she is reunited with her parents Ernie and Gladys Hall. Rest in Peace dear mother.
