In memory of

Nita Holroyd

July 4, 1936 -  May 22, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Nita Holroyd (Hall) on Friday, May 22nd at the age of 83. Beloved mother of Michael Holroyd (and Leslie), Jacqueline Wees, and Christine Williams (Charles) and loving Nana of Hayden, Maggie and Olivia.
She is survived by her siblings, Ernie Hall (Mary), Renee Garside (Dennis), Gladys Fabische (Reiner), Peter Hall (Pat), and Julie Harding (Steve).
Nita emigrated from England to Canada with her husband (Peter) and their three children in June of 1968. Her sisters Renee and Gladys had arrived in Canada prior to 1968, and the combined families spent countless holidays and Christmases together. Family trips often included visits to Wasaga beach and cottages at Honey Harbour and Balm beach.
Nita enjoyed traveling home to the UK for weddings and family visits. She also travelled frequently to Maple Ridge, BC, to visit her sister Gladys and family.
Some of Nita’s proudest moments were in the role of Mother of the Bride and Groom on her children’s wedding days. She loved spending time with her three grandchildren and the children within her extended family. She would often sing to them, and in her later years played cards and bingo with them.
Nita’s final days were spent at the local nursing home in Port Perry, where her daughter Jacqueline resides. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the nurses, PSWs and staff for their patience and kindness towards mum. Our caring and devoted sister Jaqueline was by our mother’s side during her last month, which was spent in palliative care. When our dear mother took her final breath and left us to be with God, Jaqueline was there.
We know that mum took all the love of her family with her as she ascended into heaven, where she is reunited with her parents Ernie and Gladys Hall. Rest in Peace dear mother.

Mother : I miss you and love you .
You were always there whenever I was lost .
You never turned your back on me . I remember your laugh , your touch ,your smile ,your tears and all the good times we shared together.
You taught me right from wrong . You taught me how to be an honest ,caring and loving man. When I was in pain you comforted me.
You taught me how important family is and always took the time to make sure we had lots of fun times with cousins loving Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.
God speed my dear Mother until we meet again .Michael

Very sorry for you losing your mom but lovely words to honour her. I was fortunate enough to be present at all your weddings and like you wrote, your mom looked proud and beautiful at each. If times were different I would be there on Thursday but know I will be thinking of you all and hoping you all get through the day.

Its with a sad heart that we say goodbye to our sister Nita. We are sorry we never got to do it in person, because of the covid virus.

Nita was a wonderful sister, and we always had a good time when we could get together.

In our hearts, and will not be forgotten. Love you Nita.

I will truly miss my nana's loving smile, contagious laughter, and just being around such a heart-warming person.

I will never forget how excited I was to get away from home and sleep over at
my nana's. This usually mean't lots of sugar. This also included microwaving things that we shouldn't because neither of us knew better. I enjoyed playing cards with nana and even watching those long hours of coronation street.

Nana knit me lots of things like hats, blankets, and gloves. She was really good at it. And tried to show me how to. I was not very good. It's horrible, I still can't do it. But most of all, I found being in her presence to be very peaceful.

I will forever cherish the moments I spent with her on this earth, and will one day see her again. Until then, rest well, and eat all the fish and chips you can.

Love you Nana,

Hayden

When Nita Hall was born on 4 July 1936 in Manchester, Lancashire, her father, Ernest, was 27, and her mother, Gladys, was 21. She married Peter Holroyd on 14 September 1957. In 1968 Nita, Peter and their three children emigrated to Canada

Nita is one of 6 children, she was the eldest girl, I am the youngest of the 6 and was born 1958, the year after Nita and Peter married, and only 2 years older than Nita's 1st born child Michael. Nita use to tell me that when I was a baby she often took me out for a walk in my pram. People would stop to chat to her and always thought I was her child.

I remember coming home from school during lunch time In the early seventies ,my mother would always have lunch ready for us . While we were eating she always had the radio on sofly playing all the current pop music of the time. Today when I hear those songs from the past I reflect on those early days sharing luch with my siblings and Mother.
