In memory of

Nicola Carbone

April 18, 1929 -  February 27, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Nicola Nando Carbone, our beloved father, age 91, passed away suddenly, on February 27th, 2021. Nicola was born on April 18th, 1929 in Cocullo, Italy to Luciano and Elizabeth Carbone (nee Carnevalle). Loving and devoted husband to Cesidia Carbone (predeceased by 2 months) for 64 years. Wonderful father to Lucy (Donald), John (Sherry-Lynn), Antonietta (Mark), Nick Jr (Amy), and Dave (Diane), cherished Grandfather to Alex (Nicole), Jordan (Haley), Jaclyn, Mitchell, Elizabeth, Sophia, Cameron, Nicole and Hilary as well dear Great-Grandfather to Alex and Aaron. Forever connected to his brothers Giuseppe, Antonio and Family in Europe.

Nick’s life was embodied by a work ethic and sense of responsibility that he developed from a young age. Nick and his brother Giuseppe became the head of the family, while their father was in Africa, looking after his mom and younger brother Antonio (who had Polio). Nick went to France in his teenage years to learn Bricklaying. He returned to Cocullo to marry his soulmate, Cesidia Mascioli, and in 1956 they started their life together in Canada.

Nick enjoyed a long career as a Site Foreman with Armstrong Brothers Construction Company and was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club; touring around Brampton to view sites he worked on was a typical family past time. Weekend activities included visiting with our Cocullese Italian Canadian community, sharing meals, beach picnics, and picking fresh fruit. Nick retired at age 65, but that did not slow him down, he continued to live his life everyday as a handyman around the house. Being a Grandpa later in life became one of his proudest roles. He enjoyed the many large family dinners Cesidia prepared, and while he did not say much Nick was always listening and observing our joy and conversations.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Southbrook Retirement where he lived his last days, he enjoyed the community there and loved to participate in the many activities. A private family service and interment will take place on March 6th, 2021.

Virtual viewing of the funeral service will be made available at top of this page 5 minutes prior to Funeral Service, Saturday March 6th at 10:25 am.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, is appreciated.

Losing you so soon after Mom has left us all in great shock. At 91 years you were younger than most 60 year olds a doctor told us. We know your heart longed to be with Mom and we take comfort knowing the 2 of you are together again. Thank you for everything and the life you and mom gave us. Miss you Dad...Love Antonietta Mark Mitchell and Elizabeth 🙏🏻

My condolences to all the Carbone family. I always got a smile from Nick Sr. every time I saw him over the 50 years I knew him. The world lost a few special people in the last couple of months. Great people that raised great people.
