Nikolaos “Nick” Karantzoulis – dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend – passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on August 5, 2022 at his Greece summer residence in Akova, Argos, the day before his 77th birthday.
Nick was blessed with a large and loving family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Vasiliki “Kiki” and their children Fotula (Steve) and Gus (Besy). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to five grandsons, Niko (his namesake), George, Billy, Alex and Niko. Nick will forever be in the hearts of his 2 brothers (Jim, Andy), 3 sisters (Diamantoula, Zoe, Nota) and their families. Nick was predeceased by his father, Kosta, his mother, Fotini and his eldest brother Giannis. Nick will also be fondly missed by his countless friends and neighbours, both in Canada and in Greece.
Nick was born on August 6, 1945 and grew up in Akova, Argos Greece. He served in the Greek military for 2 years and at the age of 23 travelled to Toronto in search of new opportunities. He briefly visited Greece in 1970 to marry his new bride, Kiki before returning back to Toronto to start their new life together. Driven by his modest upbringing, Nick was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family. His hard work and dedication led to his over 30 year success in the dry cleaning business. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his five grandsons and spent most of his time basking in the joys of Niko, George, Billy, Alex and Niko. In his retirement, he and his wife Kiki enjoyed traveling to their summer home in Greece, where they spent every summer together enjoying the beautiful weather, sea, food, music, culture, family and friends.
Nick had a gift of making everyone feel like family. He constantly made it a point to check in on people and was always a source of positivity. His passion and devotion to those he loved was unwavering. His infectious smile and laugh will live on forever. His friends describe Nick as nothing but generous, kind, warm and funny. He will forever be in the hearts of his family who will miss him more than words can express.
Please join his family for a memorial visitation and funeral service on Saturday, August 20th which will be held at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Visitation begins at 8:30AM, followed by the funeral service at 10:00AM, all in the same church. St. John’s Church is located at 1385 Warden Avenue, Scarborough, ON M1R 2S3. Interment (burial) will follow the church service at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill, ON L4S 1M9, 905-737-1720.

If flowers are desired, please have them sent directly to Elgin Mills Cemetery, Section 22, Lot 278 by no later than 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
