In memory of

Nguyen-Phan Duong

December 29, 1960 -  March 24, 2024

Nguyen-Phan Duong passed away on March 24, 2024, at the age of 63 after his two-year battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved family, My Anh Thach, Cynthia Thach, Michelle Thach, Monica Thach, and brothers Ken and Terrence.

Born in Cho Lam, Vietnam, Nguyen-Phan escaped the country during the war in 1980 as boat people. With his family, he sought refuge in Thailand and was given the opportunity to immigrate to Canada in 1981. With hard work and determination, he built a new life for himself in Guelph, Ontario. He started a family of his own and lived a beautiful and joyous life.

Those who knew Nguyen-Phan personally, knew him to be a quick-witted man with impeccable style. No matter where he was, what he was doing or who he was with, Nguyen-Phan was always dressed to the nines. Fashion was his creative outlet and his personality shined through his wardrobe. Nguyen-Phan was loved by many for his sense of humour. He never failed to make his family laugh with his jokes and banter. His devotion and selflessness to his family will never be forgotten. Nguyen-Phan will forever be in our hearts.

The family would like to thank Hamilton Jurvinski Cancer Center and Bayshore Specialty for caring for Nguyen-Phan in his final years. It is with great appreciation that they cared for this strong-willed, colourful, and vibrant man.

A funeral service for Nguyen-Phan’s passing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024 at 375 Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre in Toronto. Visitation, traditional Buddhist ceremony, and burial will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and condolences during this difficult time. Please join his family to commemorate Nguyen-Phan’s passing.

Dear Michelle and Thach Family,

We are deeply sorry and saddened to hear about the passing of your father/husband. The loss of a parent creates a void that cannot be filled by words alone, but we hope that you find comfort in each other during these difficult times. We believe that you will get through this as a family. We are thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort as you remember and cherish the fond memories of someone so close to you and may his legacy continue through each, and every one of you.
Sending lots of hugs your way,

Love Rich, Brenda & Family

I was sorry to hear of his passing. He was always friendly and smiling when I visited his home. I loved his witty banter with his family. No one would question his love for his dog, Mochi. They were truly best friends. He was so proud of his daughters and their accomplishments. His love for them was evident. He will be sincerely missed by myself and many others.
