In memory of

Nevena Stojanovski

October 19, 1928 -  October 20, 2021

October 19, 1928 - October 20, 2021

STOJANOVSKI, NEVENA (nee Popovska) It is with deep sadness and gratitude for a long, blessed life we share the passing of our family matriarch, Nevena Stojanovski, on October 20, 2021, in her 93rd year, with the love of her daughters surrounding her.

Nevena is reunited with her beloved husband of 70 years, Dobrislav Stojanovski (2021). She was predeceased by her father Dimitria, her mother Sofka and her siblings Fanka, Atinka, Lenka, Alexander and Krste. She is also survived by her sister Connie.

She was a devoted mother to Atinka and Mary (Chris). She was a loving Grandmother to Linda (Steve), Kris, Christopher, Jenifer (George), Nicolle (Brandon), Danielle (Anderson) and Brian. She was a treasured Great-Grandmother to Isabella, Maya and Spiro. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Born in Selo, Dragosh, Macedonia Nevena immigrated to Canada in 1958 with a suitcase filled with love, faith and courage. A proud immigrant she and her husband were determined to provide a good life for their family. She spent many years as a finisher for bridal gowns, with incredible attention to detail. Her love for crochet, knitting and sewing could also be seen on her families’ feet that she kept warm with her handmade slippers.

Baba, to her grandchildren was a wonderful combination of warmth, kindness, generosity, laughter and love. She enjoyed taking walks, going to the gym, tending to her three backyard gardens, and travelling with Dobrislav into their retirement. It didn’t take much to make her happy and she made sure to put her family first.

Always placing the needs of others above her own, Nevena lived for her immediate and extended family and nourished them well. Her garden always provided an abundance of fruits and vegetables and she was ready to feed anyone who walked through the door. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her handmade zelnik (traditional cheese & spinach pies) a time-consuming and strenuous process that she never complained about. She loved nothing more than sitting down to a good meal with those she loved most around her.

Nevena loved guests and no matter how small or unexpected the gathering, everyone was always welcome. She was the foundation of her family who kept life moving seamlessly along, she was a knowledge keeper, provider and the rock of everyone’s lives. Her strength, devotion and love for her family and friends were consistently shown, and her smile would light up any room.

Nevena was a remarkable woman and we are forever grateful that she was our Mother, Baba, and Great Baba. She was the perfect model of love, kindness, courageousness and resilience. She will be forever missed for her witty sense of humour, her infectious smile and her heart warming laughter.

Our family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff at Harmony Hills LTC for their care and attention to Nevena for the past 7 years. Especially to the Palliative support team for their kindness and compassion while making her feel comfortable in her final days.

A visitation will be held at Elgin Mills Cemetery on Monday, October 25 from 1 - 2 pm., service 2 pm. and burial to follow.
For those who are not able to attend please take the time to send your condolences to the family on this webpage.

Flowers may be ordered through Canadiana Flowers by calling directly at (416) 265-6867.

BOG DA JA PROSTI ~ May she rest in eternal peace. ❤

“A Limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song the good life I lived while I was strong.
Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.
