In memory of

Nehzati Saeid

April 24, 1934 -  August 22, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Saeid Nehzati, age 88, who died peacefully the morning of August 22nd at his home with his family.

After arriving in Canada, Saeid and his wife Ahna started their entrepreneurial path by opening Toronto's first Iranian grocery store named Dan Bakery. Saeid also had a creative spirit with interests in painting, poetry, gardening and various household endeavors. He was a consummate storyteller with a catalogue of jokes at his disposal, acting as a beacon of joy and laughter. To his wife, he was a force of positivity and unity. To his children, the greatest father with a heart of gold. To his friends, his good-humoured spirit was infectious. We will miss his spontaneous urges to sing and though he is no longer here with us, his memory and warmth remains with us forever. He is survived by the love of his life Ahna, and beloved son Dan, daughter Susan and grand-pup JackJack.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre this Saturday 27th. Gathering to start 1 pm with memorial services at 2 pm followed with burial and reception.

I am a friend of his son Dan since the late 90s when we attended the University of Toronto together. The times I met Dan's father Saeid, I always found him to be good-natured, easy-going and fun-loving. Like his son, he had a good sense of humor and was always very generous. When he ran the Persian BBQ restaurant Sardab on Yonge Street, he would always heap my plate high full of the best home-made Iranian kabobs, rice, and onions! I also really appreciated his paintings which hung throughout Dan's apartment. I was very sorry to hear about his passing. He will be sorely missed and may he Rest in Peace.
