In memory of

Nancy Yuk Chu Chue

October 1, 1939 -  November 17, 2020

Nancy Tsui Yuk Chu Chue passed away on November 17, 2020, at the age of 81.

Beloved wife of William Wun Lin Chue, much-loved mother of Eric (Michelle) and Edward, cherished grandmother of Natalie and Sarah, aunt of Norman (Liping) and Annie (Jason), grandaunt of Kailin and Kaiyan.

Born in Hong Kong, she was the oldest daughter of a large family. She was married in Hong Kong before immigrating to Canada soon after the birth of her two sons, landing in Vancouver, lived in Montreal, Kuala Lumpur and Toronto. She returned to Hong Kong for an extended period before retiring to Vancouver, and eventually reuniting with her sons in Toronto. There, she was a loving grandmother to her two granddaughters.

She was known for her cheery disposition and enjoyed gardening, tai chi, travelling and cooking. She always valued her independence and took much pride in accomplishing small tasks as her Parkinson’s advanced in her final years, and despite it, she recognised how lucky she was to have led a rich and full life. She will be greatly missed.

Due to Toronto’s Covid-19 restrictions, visitation and funeral will be private. The family plans to organize a celebration of life when it is safe again to gather.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity on this website, the Parkinson’s Foundation of Canada, will be greatly appreciated.

(It has come to our attention that to donate in memory of Nancy, when you arrive at the Parkinson's website via the link in this obituary, you need to scroll down and click on the box "Ways to Pay", then select "In Memory", otherwise your donation is treated like any other donation. I would like to remember my mother as she wished to be remembered. An ordinary life much like that for many of us. My mom had humble dreams. She did not long for a lavish lifestyle or a large social circle. She put her energies into taking care of family and running a tight ship for her household; orderly, on schedule, always busy with tasks to perform. All she needed to be happy were her gardening, cooking, and daily walks. She was also a worrier, and there were plenty of worries in the latter part of her life. First with my dad’s health problems, then her own. But she would not wish that personality trait for any of us. If she had one last wish, it would be something she told me many times, and something much needed in these turbulent times. She would want us to be unburdened from worries. To relax, eat well, and enjoy life.

Nancy was my beloved sister-in-law of William Chue. She is in good hands in Heaven with William, Chue Wun Yiu and his wife Mei Yue, and my husband Sun Yan Yiu, a peaceful place without tears and sorrow. Her kindness and wonderful soul will remain in our hearts.

I was very grateful to have been able to attend Nancy's 80th birthday party last year.. She was very happy to have her friends and relatives celebrate with her, especially her grandchildren.
She always had a smile on her face and was very friendly. It was a pleasure to have conversations with her.
May she rest in peace.
Sincerely,
