August 9, 1935 - October 21, 2019

The family of Nancy Sun King Ing sadly announces her passing at Mount Sinai Hospital on October 21, 2019 at the age of 84. Nancy was the beloved wife of the late Eddie Ing and predeceased by her son Edison Ing. Nancy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter Eileen Wai Ling Lam; son Gordon Ing (Vivian Tsung); daughter-in-law Kelly Ing; grandchildren: Christopher Lam, Stephen Lam, Michael Lam, Emilee Ing (Tyler Proud), Justin Ing, Michelle Ing and Mellisa Ing. Funeral service will be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York on Saturday, November 2 with visitation at 1 pm followed by ceremony at 2 pm. Interment and reception will follow. If desired, donations may be made to Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation (click on donations for link to charity.)

You have taught all of us so much and was always there for us, for that we are so thankful.

One of my oldest and fondest memories of Mrs. Ing goes way back to when her daughter, Eileen, and I were in grade 7. Eileen and I started the school year together and quickly became friends. Then a few months later Eileen's family moved away but we stayed in touch. One day Eileen and I arranged to spend a day together. Eileen and Mrs. Ing came to pick me up. Back in those days, not many Chinese moms drove. I was impressed that Mrs. Ing drove and I was touched that she would take the time to pick me up and also give me a ride home. She also invited me to stay for dinner and I remember she cooked a delicious meal.

Over these many decades I have had a number of occasions to see and chat with Mrs. Ing. My first impression of her has never changed. She was warm, kind and friendly. She was a stickler to tradition and I mean that in a good way.

The last conversation I had with Mrs. Ing was a couple of years ago when Eileen and I travelled together. Mind you we are no longer young girls in grade school but Mrs. Ing asked me to look after her daughter on our trip.

Well, Mrs. Ing, you need not worry about your daughter. She has the most caring family. Her sons will make sure their Mom is well looked after because they follow your virtues. You will be missed by many.
