Nancy Joyce Williamson passed away peacefully at Christie Gardens, Toronto Ontario Dec. 3, 2023, at age of 95. Nancy was born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick July 1928 to the late Dr. Kenneth Gillmor and late Anna “Christine” (Douglas) Williamson.

Nancy began her early education in a one room school house in Second Falls, NB. In 1939 she continued her schooling in St. Stephen, NB: graduating from high school in 1945. She then completed a Bachelor of Arts at Mount Allison University in 1949 and a Bachelor of Library Science at U of T in 1950. She was employed at the Hamilton Public Library from 1956-1964. At this time, she completed her Masters of Library Science and joined the staff in the Dept. Of Library Science at University of Toronto as Assistant Professor 1965-1977. By this time Nancy had completed her PhD and was appointed Associate Professor. In 1982, she was made Full Professor in Faculty of Library and Information Science at U of T.

Nancy was a world traveller and attended every National and International Conference in Library Science for years. While in Toronto Nancy was a faithful member of Bloor Street United Church and a member of their choir.

Nancy is survived by her sister Ellen Williamson of Bonny River, NB: and her brother George (Sally) Williamson of Chester, NS; 2 nephews, 3 nieces, grand nephews, & grand nieces, and cousins Carole (Douglas) Peszat and Bill Bowden. She was predeceased by her sister Anne.
Tbe family are very grateful for the care given to Nancy by her friends especially Bridget Hough and the staff at Christie Gardens.

A graveyard service will be held at a later date at the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, New Brunswick.
