In memory of

Alan Charles Nagel

October 9, 1954 -  February 4, 2024

Alan Charles Nagel, 69 years of age, passed away on Sunday February 4, 2024, with his loving children by his side.

Alan was born to Adriana Nagel on October 9, 1954 in Gloucester MA. He attended Interlochen Arts Academy, and afterwards obtained master’s degrees in music composition and music performance. When his studies were completed, Alan then moved to Toronto Canada and began an exciting life in a new city. Alan started a family with Louise, obtained his teacher’s degree, and entered into a long career as a teacher with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. He had been enjoying retirement since 2019.

While he brought great care, attention to detail, and creativity to his teaching, Alan’s deep passion was music. He was a talented and accomplished musician; playing in orchestras, ensembles and bands; writing, composing and performing throughout the United States and in Canada. As a hobbyist, Alan was also an avid photographer, video designer, and reader. He had a fond appreciation for his many favourite works of art, and those who created them. Alan loved art in every form, he viewed the world through words, sound, and light.

Alan was a very loving and caring father and will be remembered fondly by many for his artistic spirit, wicked sense of humor, and deep thoughtfulness in life. Alan is survived by his cherished children Jeremy Charles (Karina) and Robyn Marie (Steven). Alan was predeceased by his beloved Gramps Orazio Zanin, and his mother Adriana Nagel, who recently passed having reached the age of 100.

Family and Friends will be received at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL CENTRE- MISSISSAUGA 1535 South Gateway Road (at Dixie Road, two lights south of Eglinton) 905-602-1580 on Saturday February 10, 2024 for Memorial gathering from 2-3 p.m. A Celebration of Alan’s life will follow at 3p.m.

I met Alan when I started working at Canadian Martyrs Catholic School eight years ago. I was just beginning my teaching career and he was approaching retirement. I'll always remember his big smile and sense of humor, and how dedicated he was to the students. Whether it was organizing the talent show or running tech for assemblies and morning announcements, he was always helping somewhere. He was someone I could always go to for advice. I'll miss you, Alan.
Heartfelt condolences to the Nagel Family.

I have fond memories of Alan during the time I worked with him at Canadian Martyrs. I enjoyed his morning announcements on the PA system and admired his expertise with the music and sound system at our concerts and assemblies. He will be truly missed. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May you rest in peace Alan.
