In memory of
Murray Glow
December 26, 1943 -
May 24, 2024
After a long and full life Murray Glow, born 26 December 1943, died peacefully on May 24th 2024, at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Martha and children Hannah and David, and their partners Emmett and Elissa.
Born in Ocean Falls, British Columbia to Sally and Gerry Glow, Murray grew up in Winnipeg where he attended St. John’s Tech. Murray was B. Comm at the University of Manitoba, and a member of Sigma Alpha Mu. He received his MBA from University of Michigan, moved to Halifax, and then co-founded Applied Research Associates with three friends in Montreal in 1972 . At ARA and afterwards Murray was privileged to serve the health, social, policy and economic interests of communities and governments in Canada, Nigeria, Kenya, Jamaica, Ukraine, Pakistan, and dozens of other countries. In 2007, Murray joined the board of Endeavour Consulting which provided consulting expertise free of charge to Ontario non-profits. He spent his life helping others and the world is the better for it.
Murray was enthusiastic about life. He enjoyed travel, cycling, photography, rambling walks through the Don Valley, and long discussions about world events. He was an avid poker player and he even won a few games. He always had a project on the go, and he built deep connections to people, places and the world around him.
A devoted father, loving husband and loyal friend, Murray was always ready to help family, friends, and strangers. He was available in thought and action to all, as a spring which never ran dry, just like his hoard of ancient tech devices and mismatched electrical cords. Always smiling, forever in our hearts. May his memory be our blessing.
Safe journey, Dad. We love you.
A memorial service will be held June 13, from 3-5 pm at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road. Speeches will be at 4
