In memory of

Muriel Scott

July 30, 1924 -  April 22, 2017

On April 22 2017, our goldengirl Muriel May (Henderson) Scott, slipped peacefully from a room filled with sunlight, music and love, turning a page in a story which began in Chateauguay, Quebec, in 1924. She now joins Roland, her truest friend for almost 60 years
With an engaging personality, Muriel exercised intellect, compassion, and entrepreneurial skills through a long and varied career in the nursing field including work in hospitals, Public Health, nursing education at both North York General Hospital and Bethesda School for Nursing Assistants and finally as a developer and principal of Hospital Nursing Service. All done while raising a family in Welland and later Toronto.

A lover of music, art and fitness, Muriel also exercised her body long before aerobics was a common phrase. This explains her vibrant health, active lifestyle and sharp mind, still gardening and attending weekly Aquafit classes at the Granite Club into her 90’s, and still able to be the life of the party. Her extended family and close friends remained her most passionate pursuit. She was at her best one on one, pouring out wine, or tea for the younger set, while pouring out sage advice to her listeners, willing or unwilling.
The story doesn’t end here, it just blends into the next chapter for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she nurtured, physically, mentally and emotionally until her last days. We can hold you no longer, but will love you forever. Lovingly missed by Peter (Brenda), Michael (Hedy), Patricia (Bo) and Stephen (Rishma), and grandchildren Andrew, Josh, Kaitlin, Darcy, Logan, Daulton, Nicholas, Kira, and Aden as well as many friends who shared her wine and wisdom.

As Muriel searches out the others like Roland and Ruth, some of those who have journey'd before her, in the flourishing garden above, may she know that her smile, kindness, determination and beauty will be remembered forever in our hearts. It was always lovely to share the love of life with her. Looking forward to meeting her in the garden some day

Hi Tricia, Peter, Michael and Stephen
Loved your message about your Mom. It was so reflective of who she was as a person. She recognized in me the ability and passion to teach and brought on Dianne and myself, kids just 3 and 2 yrs out of school to become her in house teachers at North York. On May 16th, that day marked our 40th year since she hired us. She did inspire us as a role model of what a successful women should be and I loved our continuing lunches or dinners over the years. We were to have had our next lunch last week. Your Mom will always be remembered for her charm, her warmth and compassion and yes, her advice willingly or unwillingly wanted. Dianne and I loved the total package. She will be sorely missed and I am glad I have had her in my life for these many years. I can only imagine your loss and those of your family. May the joys of her laughter, the precious wisdom she imparted and the memories of the times together bring you all peace and comfort at this time and over the years to come.

Lovingly,

Hilda Gan
