In memory of

Muriel Sampson

March 25, 1948 -  June 22, 2024

In loving memory, we announce the passing of Muriel Sampson. Muriel is survived by her loving son Cale, husband Don, daughter-in-law Jamie and wonderful grandson Cayden. She is also forever remembered by extended family members and many longtime friends who will always cherish their time with her.

Muriel was a truly courageous, creative, kind and beautiful human being. Throughout her life and career (as a costume designer at the CBC) she touched so many people deeply with her sincerity and gentleness. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, wife and friend and we will miss her beyond words. Muriel showed tremendous strength and resilience throughout her incredible life and she always did so with grace and style.

Over the past few years Muriel also showed remarkable bravery in her battle with cancer and never for a moment gave up hope throughout this challenging experience.

As sad as it feels, Muriel's transition was beautiful. Her son Cale and daughter-in-law Jamie were both by her side, holding her hands and speaking love to her. We know for certain that she is at peace right now surrounded by pure love.

A private celebration of life with Muriel's close friends and family will be held in the near future.

In Muriel's memory, we are setting up a scholarship fund to be given as an annual award to a high school student who displays attributes of both creativity and courage (like Muriel). If you would like to pay respect to Muriel or support the family during this challenging time, we feel that a donation to this important cause would be the most impactful way for you to personally give your best wishes.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my stepmother Muriel…but so very grateful to have known her beautiful, kind soul. Her and my father spent many happy years as a couple, and I couldn’t imagine a better partner for him. They often road-tripped and travelled together, exploring new places and adventuring upon retiring. I have such fond memories of hearing their stories about various journeys, and one thing I will never forget is how whenever Muriel purged her closet, she would give me bags of hand-me-downs which I LOVED , as she had a great sense of style and we had a mutual love of “comfy” clothes :) I will miss her dearly, she lived an amazing life, raised an amazing son, and brought joy to everyone who was lucky enough to have met her. RIP

Muriel was more like a sister to me, than a sister-in-law. I watched this amazing woman fight so many battles during the last few years of her life. I was in awe of her strength and of her grace. She was truly a one of a kind beautiful lady and I will miss her terribly. Rest in Peace my sweet friend.

Our condolences to Muriel’s family and friends. She has been a friend for over 60 years. So many good memories from years gone by. She stood up as a bridesmaid at our wedding 57 years ago and attended our 50th wedding anniversary. I’ll miss your messages with life updates and the annual Christmas cards. Always thoughtful, kind and considerate. A beautiful person has left this world and now on to a new journey. Rest now Muriel with love and peace. Friends forever, Susan and Darrel McManus

Muriel, I knew you as a kind and generous person. You were also stylish and innovative, sparky and often ready to laugh. I'm grateful I met you, and got to know you over the years. The world's a little less bright without you in it. Rest well, Muriel. XO
