In memory of

Mrs. Yuet Ying "Thelma" Wong

October 29, 1936 -  July 12, 2022

Passed away in her home on Tuesday July 12, 2022 at age 85 and is pre-deceased by her husband, Gen. She will be greatly missed by her four children: Mayme, Richard (Annabelle), Karen and Jeffery and grandson, Ian. Born in Toisan, Guangdong, she immigrated with her husband who ran restaurants in Port Elgin and Milton, Ontario and both worked tirelessly at their restaurant in Toronto called “Buk Sen”. With her new life in Canada, she diligently raised her children while simultaneously running the restaurant. This was a reflection of what was most important to her: family and food. Her concern for the safety and well-being of her children was exemplified by her waiting until they returned home from their travels in order to warm up some food. Her family enjoyed the Sunday dinners crowded around the kitchen table filled with her Canadian-Chinese culinary creations like turkey jook, home-grown vegetables, and her nourishing old-country soups for various bodily ailments. A private family funeral was held with internment at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto.

Dear Richard, Annabelle, and Ian:
We are so sorry to hear of your loss. I loved to hear Richard share stories of the famous dishes his mother would make at the restaurant. They always sounded so delicious made with pride and tradition. We are thinking about you at this sad time.
