In memory of

何鄧帶友太夫人 Mrs. Dai You Deng

August 27, 1921 -  October 25, 2020

Born in Guangzhou, China on August 27, 1921. Dai You Deng married her love Fung Ho, who has passed away on October 25, 1971.

Dai You Deng was a mother to 4 sons and 3 daughters, grandmother to 14 and great-grandmother to 12 children, who all love and miss her dearly.

At a young age she fled to Vietnam at the outbreak of WWII, then back home to China due to the Vietnam War where she remained until she immigrated to Canada at the age of 64 to help raise her grandchildren.

Dai You Deng had a passion for being artistic, creative and loved music, where many of these traits have been passed down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She appreciated the simple things in life, by starting off her day with a cup of coffee and ending her day with a glass of wine or beer. She spent most of her days gardening, taking long walks and knitting scarves, vests and blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There wouldn’t be a time of day where you wouldn’t hear her singing or humming her favourite songs to pass the day.

There was always a weekly tradition where the sons and their families would gather to spend time with her enjoying good food and conversations. She had an amazing sense of humour and always knew how to make anyone laugh and smile. The day would end with hours of playing mahjong, sometimes till the wee hours of the morning. She enjoyed playing the lottery and scratch tickets in hopes of winning the jackpot one day, which she would definitely want to share with her family.

In her last moments she was surrounded and comforted by her loving family. We take comfort in knowing she is in peace and reunited with her husband, and will be watching over all of us.
