During the early morning of December 20, 2022, our beloved Mother Chi Ching Lai, age 99, passed away peacefully in her home. She was born on April 16, 1923, in Hong Kong.

A loving mother and a teacher, Chi Ching was remarkable for her patience for family and friends. After retiring from her teaching career in Hong Kong, she immigrated to Canada to join her children. While in Canada, She remained active and continued working initially in a garment factory and then in a convalescence home. When she finally retired from work, she took baking lessons. Her family and friends all enjoyed her famous sponge cake, walnut cookies and beef jerky. Playing mahjong was definitely her favourite pastime.

Chi Ching is survived by six children, Angela, Bernard, Carolina, Dorothy, Evelyn and Frederick, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her niece Josephine and her grandnephew, as well as other nephews and niece in Hong Kong.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 29th, 2022, at York Cemetery at 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, at 9:00 am. Funeral to follow at 10:00 am. Interment at York Cemetery following the funeral service.
