Ranjit A. Savundranayagam

83, of Toronto, ON, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Son of Ridley and Rosemarie Savundranayagam, he was the brother of Yolande (deceased), Arlene, Yvonne, Bunton and Brindley, and brother-in-law to Lal (deceased), Cecil (deceased), and Hamzee.

Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, he attended St. Mary’s School. As a young man, he enjoyed playing cricket, observing court trials, and competing in baila dinner dance competitions (many of which he won). Throughout his life, he was a quiet, caring and protective individual, always concerned about his family and the well-being of his younger siblings.

Ranjit immigrated to Canada in 1974 and worked as a machine operator at Super Pufft, a popcorn company, for 25 years. He was always a punctual and dedicated employee. He loved listening to jazz music and socializing with family and friends, especially at summer barbecues. He was a talented kite maker, and he enjoyed playing the tenor saxophone in his free time.

A private viewing will be held at Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 717 Kennedy Rd., on Wed. March 19 at 11:00 a.m. This will be followed by the funeral mass at the same location, at 11:30 am. The burial will take place at Pine Hills cemetery, 625 Birchmount Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
