Dat Chuong Tran was born January 1, 1921 in the village of Vinh Chau, Bac Lieu Vietnam.
Arriving in Canada in the spring of 1979 with very little, he worked hard to become a well-respected and successful businessman. Dat Chuong was a great mentor in the close-knit Toronto Chinatown and Chao Chow communities. He sacrificed and worked hard his entire life. To many, he will be remembered as the well-regarded entrepreneur that built the successful family business Tap Phong Trading Company Inc. To his family, he instilled a great work ethic and strong family values.
Dat Chuong had a zest for life that carried him well through his many adventures travelling the world with his loving wife; exploring places and connecting with his many friends and extended family. At his core, Dat Chuong appreciated the simple things in life; be it a glass of wine or cognac, sharing stories and a meal with his family.
Dat Chuong was also the patriarch of his family. He was a loving and devoted family man. Dat Chuong is now reunited with his beloved wife Huong Thi Tran (nee Trinh). He is survived by his children Cuong Quoc Tran (& Dung Tran) and Dat Cuong Tran (& Dee Tran) and his 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Dat Chuong lived to the landmark age of 100 years old before he passed away Feb 17, 2021; with his family love and under the great care of the hospital staff at Humber River Hospital.
Our family is deeply grateful for the outpour of love and support. We want to especially thank Family Doctor Toan Di Nhan for his dedication and the unparalleled care he devoted throughout the years. Also our appreciation to the North York General Hospital where Dat Choung was well cared for by the fine staff of the Oncology Department.
