In memory of

Melba Mosquera

November 28, 1930 -  May 14, 2020

MOSQUERA, Melba “Fren” - It was with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Melba Mosquera announced her passing after a brief illness, on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

Melba was cremated as per her wishes, and due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, her memorial service was deferred and has now been scheduled.

Reunited with her beloved husband Rufino (d. 2013), parents Roslyn and Reginald, siblings Marjorie, Olga, Florel (Alphonse), Pixley (Ermine), Leslie, Jackie and Allan.

Melba will forever be lovingly remembered by her children Roger, Perry, Angela (Paul d. 2001) and Oscar (Debbie); by Donna Mosquera; her brother Errol (Elena); grandchildren Andrew, Cordell (Nicole), Tyler, Brandon, and Amy; the Cruz in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a loving great-grandmother; she leaves behind a lifetime of memories and will be deeply missed by her extended family members and all who knew and loved her.

Melba was always generous of heart, willing to help those in need whether they were friends, family, or neighbours. This was a true testament to her loving heart.

She loved music and loved to dance. She will always have a special place in our hearts. We will cherish her memory and treasure the time we had together.

God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you, and said, “Come to me.” A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Mom, Melba, Aunt Fren, Aunt May, Grandma, Grand-Maman, you were so much to so many! If love alone could have kept you here, you would have lived forever. You are in our hearts, always remembered, forever loved.

A special thanks to the staff at Extendicare Brampton for their compassion and care during Melba’s stay.

We’ve cried our tears and mourned our loss, now we give our grieving hearts relief by finally coming together to celebrate all the wonder that was Melba. A life, so beautiful, deserves a special celebration, she certainly left an impact on us all.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. EST, on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre (1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada 905-802-1580). A reception will follow the service.

My dear, dear Aunt Fren❤️ We were roomies for a short period back in 2010 and we had soooooo much fun😄. Aunt Fren was in the process of giving away some of the many books she had. We managed to eliminate all but two boxes of books. We called the library downtown and was told to bring them. We took the boxes and was told someone would look them over and decide if the library could use them. As soon as the lady turned her back I said ‘run aunt Fren’ and we took off😂. We were not about to go back home with the books they might not want.

I could talk to Aunt May about anything and she always made me laugh. She always gave the best advise. Even when she was not well she would say things that would have me in stitches. Aunt May was the best and she is sorely missed.

Mommy, we were so blessed to have you come to Extendicare. Your kind demeanor, your beautiful smile and your dancing hips made us all so happy when you woke up in the morning! You also gave the best hugs! You always greeted everyone that passed you with your warm smile and hello. And raised you eyebrows as they passed if you didn't really care for them. Hahahha!!! At the sound of any tune (even if it was in your head at times) you would be dancing. We named you our "Dancing Queen". Melba, you will always be in our hearts and in our memories. Extendicare is definitely not the same without you. Rest in Paradise our Dancing Queen!
