In memory of

梁祥發先生 Morgan Cheung-Fat Leung

May 7, 1937 -  May 30, 2025

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Morgan Cheung-Fat Leung. Morgan passed away peacefully surrounded by family at St. Michael's Hospital's palliative care unit.

Morgan was born in Shanghai, China. He was the third eldest of a family of fourteen children. Morgan moved to Macau as a middle school student, then continued his studies in Hong Kong. In 1967 Morgan moved to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, followed by a move to the United States in 1972, where he obtained citizenship. In 1981 Morgan moved to Alberta, Canada, then in 1986 moved to what would be his final home in Toronto, Ontario.

Morgan worked primarily in the hospitality industry. He was part owner of two very successful Chinese restaurants in Virginia and Maryland. The restaurants were visited by the President of United States and the Governor of Maryland. After one such visit the Governor sent a thank you note to Morgan personally. Morgan joined the family business in home entertainment when he moved to Canada.

Morgan valued family immensely. For such a large family, they are a very close knit family. The family gatherings grew to include upwards of fifty plus members. These were times Morgan found a lot of happiness and joy. Morgan's interests included war history and aircrafts. He was keen to discuss war strategies, and always looked forward to annual airshows.

Morgan was always generous with his time and knowledge, willing to give assistance in anyway to make things easier for others. His work ethic was unmatched and relentless, never stopping until a task was completed, even well into his eighties. At the restaurants, he would send staff home to be with their families, and he would stay and finish everything that needed to be done.

Morgan was a man of few words, but still waters run deep, he had a quiet understated wealth of knowledge. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife Teresa of 52 years. HIs children Yvonne, Kenny, Anthony, and Angela (Jordy)
His brothers Peter (pre-deceased Nancy), Bill (Kitty), Danny, Eddie (Jackie)
His Sisters Rosita (Robert), Anna, Amy (Terry)
Pre-deceased by his Sisters Yuet Sin (Hung Kwan), Rita (survived by Winston), Linda (survived by Elwin), Lolita (survived by David)
His brothers Stephen (survived by Isa), Cotey (survived by Rebecca)
Survived by Nephews Alex (Rosita), David (Fanny), Tim, Tom (Gabrielle), Patrick, Dominic (Suhyeon), Geoff (Krista), Brian (Rachel), Norris (Ava)

Morgan had always been a strong proponent of conservation of the environment. In lieu of flowers, Morgan's wishes are for donations to be made to St. Michael's Hospital Foundation.

Even though you have known me for more than five decades we've not spent as much time together as we would have liked.
I cherish the time we have had together and will remember them for ever.
Rest in eternal peace Morgan.

Although we lived so far away from each other, I am grateful that I got to feel your quiet kindness as we met over some family celebrations over the years. Your courage and strength to live out a life of quality is truly inspiring. May you rest in everlasting peace. Sending love to all the family, Karen, JP & Daniel
