Millie Nanos, 87, passed peacefully on the morning of July 31, 2026.

Born on April 10, 1939, in Skopia, Florina, Greece, Millie spent her early years in the village with her mother, Vela, and older sisters, Thelma and Stella. Together, they were affectionately known as “the three sisters,” a bond that remained cherished throughout Millie’s life.

In December 1957, Millie moved to Toronto to join her beloved George, whom she married the following month at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church. Together, they raised two sons, Lou (Helen) and Chris (Doreen), who made her the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Katie (Jason), Michael (Layla), Stephanie (Michael), Steven (Meagan), and Philip (Nikki). She was a constant presence in her grandchildren's lives and was fondly admired by their schoolmates and parents for her sense of humour, strong work ethic, and unwavering care. As her family grew, Millie embraced her role as great-grandmother to Jack, Georgia, and Thomas with immense joy.

Beyond her deep devotion to her family and the close friendships she formed with her neighbours, Millie was an avid gardener, a talented needlepointer, and loved sharing stories of her years working at Eatons, a time she recalled with great pride. She had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
