In memory of

Millie Morris

March 26, 1928 -  February 14, 2025

Millie Morris passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. We’d like to believe she reunited with husband Gerry (who predeceased her in 1999) on Valentine’s Day. Millie was a loving mother to Valerie, Sandra, Brenda and Barbara, and devoted herself to making a wonderful home for her family.

Millie was born in Montreal in 1928 and began work at Eaton’s in her teens, later joining the Eaton’s Masquers music and dance ensemble to entertain the troops during WWII. When the girls were young, Millie spent every summer with the family at Lake l’Achigan in the Laurentians, hosting and enjoying friends and relatives lakeside at the cottage. After moving to Toronto in 1970, Millie took up golf at Donalda Club, where she and Gerry developed a wonderful community of friends who they socialized and travelled with, most notably to the golf courses of Naples (Florida), Bermuda, and Scotland. Despite taking up the sport at age 40, Millie was an accomplished golfer with three holes-in-one and served as Women’s Golf Captain in 1980.

An elegant and intelligent woman with a strong work ethic, Millie had an appreciation for and beautiful sense of design, reflected in her homes and shared with Donalda as a member of the House Committee.

In addition to her daughters, Millie is survived by sons-in-law Peter, Hugh and Stuart, grandchildren Christine (Adam), Jill (Brian), Aurora (Steve), David (Michela), Geoff (Badri), Michael (Katelyn) and Gordon, and great-grandchildren James, Isla, Dylan, Cole, Gabriella, Brooklyn, Henry and Isabel. There will be a small gathering of the immediate family in the spring to commemorate Millie's life.

I feel very lucky to have had Gram with me for so long. She was part of every pivotal moment of my life and got to really know her great-grandchildren, Dylan (16) and Cole (13), which is rare. My homes were filled with her decorative touches and suggestions and I will never forget her stories and advice about being a strong woman, wife, and mother. Gram also got my sense of humour, laughed at my husband Brian doing stand-up at Yuk Yuks and made him his favourite US Thanksgiving dish so he would not feel left out at our first family Thanksgiving together in Canada. I have always been amazed at her beauty and grace and will love her forever. I know she is back with Grandfather now and they are taking care of each other again, as they have always taken care of all of us, and that brings me comfort. Love you Gram❤️
