My baba was loved and will be missed by many. My love and prayers are going out to everyone who is mourning this loss. May her memory be eternal and live in the hearts of all who knew her.
I’m sure memories of Baba Milena will look different to everyone, but as her granddaughter, I feel lucky to have shared many special moments with her throughout my life. It’s impossible to summarize those feelings in a little blurb, but I’ll share a few things. She shaped a lot of who I am today and I’m proud of everything she taught me over the years. She showed me how cooking good food is a love language showing your family and guests how much you care (and it’s always best to have too much than too little!), how to take good care of yourself and your home (“Ako se čuvaš i Bog te čuva”), and how elegance and modesty are virtues. She always valued hard work and encouraged us with our education. She also had a love for all things beautiful such as all flowers (but especially roses), lace and the colour pink. I’m going to miss her showing me how to make different recipes, the way she always gave me advice and comfort, and I will especially miss how her face would light up when I would come visit her and she’d reach out for me with a smile calling me her “najstarija unuka”. I will always remember these things, and I hope that all of you will also remember the happy memories you’ve had with her as well. May her memory live on eternally, and may she rest in peace reunited with Deda Jovo. Sending love and comfort to everyone who knew and loved her <3
My aunt was a beautiful woman. From a very young age I looked up to her and admired her. She always dressed well and had an eye for beautiful and well organized home. I will always remember her with love and respect.
‘May you rest in peace strina Milena.’
