During the early morning of December 12, 2022, our beloved Mother and Baba Milena Dobric, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born on August 5, 1926, in Zverinac, daughter of the late Milan Zarac and Ana (Cosic) Zarac. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stevo Dobric (2017).

Milena was also predeceased by her daughter, Andjelia; granddaughter Ljubinka; and her siblings in Serbia, brother Jovan; and four sisters, Masa, Mira, Dushanka and Desa.

A loving mother and homemaker, Milena was a remarkable cook and enjoyed nothing more than cooking for family and friends. She was an active and long-time member of our Serbian Orthodox Churches in Toronto and Mississauga and the St. Save Serbian Circle of Sisters Kraljica Alexandra. Many were unaware that Milena worked as a highly skilled seamstress in a fashion house on Spadina for many years when her children were young. Her creative skills were astounding. When she wasn’t in the kitchen or at her sewing machine creating something fabulous, she would be found knitting, crocheting or even upholstering furniture. There was nothing she couldn’t do when she set her mind to it.

Milena is survived by two daughters, Radmila and Jelena, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her sister, Radmila of Serbia. She will also be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews in Canada, U.S.A. and Serbia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20th, 2022, at York Cemetery at 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment at York Cemetery following the funeral service.
