Mihailo Nikolovski
(November 12, 1941 - January 16, 2022)

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Mihailo (Mile, Mike) Nikolovski on January 16th, 2022. Mile was a loving and devoted husband to Mara of 49 years, cherished father to Nevena (Tom), Ivana (Peter), Vera (Rade) and Tina (Jason). Caring brother to Luba (Aleksandar) and loving Uncle to Igor (Lidija) and their children, Jana and Aleksandar. He was pre-deceased by his father Vangel and mother Spasa, father-in-law Tasho and survived by his mother-in-law, Velika. Mile was a proud and loving Dedo to Terry, Tasha, Yana, Aleksandra, Mara and Stefan.

Mile was born in Macedonia in the beautiful lakeside village, Dolno Dupeni in the Prespa region. He was quick on his feet and in mind - playing competitive soccer as a youth and studying law at the University of Sv. Kiril and Metodija in Skopje. He was a dreamer and at 25 years of age, he courageously took a trip across the Atlantic to build a life in Canada. He brought with him his passion for the Macedonian community and helped build the first Macedonian church in Hamilton, Sv. Naum Macedonian Orthodox Church. There, he met his wife Mara and they began building their lives together. He was a natural leader and with hard work, grit and determination he and his beloved Mara raised a family of four girls and established a printed-circuit board company.

Mile had the biggest heart and a matching personality. His family and friends will always remember the warm twinkle in his eyes and his very kind soul. When gathering with family and friends, you could always count on Mile to help fill the room with his positive energy, laughter, jokes and engaging political discussions. The family trips to Bobcaygeon are cherished memories. Mile loved fishing and imparted his passion to his daughters and grandchildren. Life on Pigeon Lake was filled with sunsets on the dock, delicious barbeques and spending quality time with family. Mile also loved going back to his village in Macedonia to reunite with his large extended family and friends.

He was a very proud Macedonian and loved his community. He helped instill a love and pride in Macedonian culture and tradition in his family and all those around him. At his core, he was a human rights activist. He was a charismatic radio host for CHIN radio and Makedonski Glas. The community loved Makedonski Glas for its energetic promotion of the Macedonian cause. He helped organize countless charities and community events filled with Macedonian music and dancing. Mile and Mara, along with dear friends Bill and Christine Ziskoff founded the Sv. Zlata Meglenska Foundation, which helped build a church in Aegean Macedonia.

In retirement, Mile went to St. Dimitrija Solunski Church in Markham almost every day to connect with friends, play chess and discuss politics. He would return home to enjoy the rest of the day with his beloved Mara. Mile's lively and entertaining conversations around the dinner table with Mara, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren will always be remembered and forever in our hearts.
