In memory of

Michael William O'Leary

January 26, 1957 -  January 5, 2022

Michael William O’Leary of Calgary, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the age of 64 years.

He loved taking a risk at the craps table, and loved sappy romantic movies as well as old Westerns. Michael grew up playing hockey, he was smart in school and achieved good grades without the need to study much. His love of sports was evident as later in life the hockey stick was replaced by a golf club, he never missed an opportunity to get out on the course and play a round with family or friends.

Michael loved working with his hands and valued the trades he was such a hard worker and lazy was never a word that applied to him. He loved his career as tradesman and was doubled ticketed as an electrician and gas fitter. He was the one everyone turned to in tough times being only a phone call away he was the first to call and offer support if you needed it.

A devoted son, father, grandfather brother, and brother-in-law he never hesitated to help his mother or a friend out. Michael was a friend and mentor to many anyplace he worked, and everyone was his buddy, and everyone instantly like him.

He was a very proud father who in the earlier years could be found driving his daughter to soccer practices and games, he was always praising her athletic abilities. And was proud of the woman she became. Michael supported his son’s dreams to follow in his footsteps and become a tradesman as well. He was very proud of the fact that his son had his own business and was doing well for himself.

More recently Michael was blessed with his granddaughter Nikki they bonded over ice cream, and he will be affectionately known as grandpa ice cream. He never missed an opportunity to visit and spend that special time with her.

He will be most remembered for his jovial, caring, and good nature. He had a smile for everyone.

He is survived and remembered by his mother Margaret; children Jennifer (Mike), and Sean (Lyndsey); granddaughter Nikki; siblings Daniel, Cathy (Mark), Shona (Andrew); and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends; he will also be fondly remembered by his ex-wife and the mother of his children Jackie. Michael was predeceased by his father Daniel O’Leary.

If desired, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
