It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Michael (Mikele/Mike) Agius. Mike was born in Xewkija, Gozo (Malta) in 1945 to Marcellus and Josephine Agius.
Mike's sense of adventure led him to Australia at the age of 15, where his older brother John and sister Mary Jane immigrated to earlier. After several years, Mike moved back to Gozo where he married and then moved to the Junction area of Toronto in 1969 to start a family of his own. Mike and his family later moved to the Mississauga area in 1989 where Mike continued to live for the next 30 years. Mike worked for Algoods Canada (Alcan) for almost 25 years, and later retired from Alcan.
Mike always put the needs of his family first. Mike instilled in his children and grandchildren many values - work hard, respect for one another, and family first.
Mike is survived by his children Marcel (Sheena), Jason (Catherine), Charlett (Blake), Michael (Kathleen) and Mike's grandchildren Evan, Andrew, Nicholas, Alexander, Daniel, Matthew, Madeline, Beatrice and Brooklynn.
Mike will be remembered by his friends and family as someone who went out of his way to help one another. Although Mike missed the warm climates of Malta and Australia, he made Canada his home and appreciated the opportunities this country offered.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
Due to the restrictions imposed by the province of Ontario, there will not be an arranged viewing - a private mass for the family will be held on November 18, 2020 in Mississauga.
