Melvyn Noricazu Tsuji

April 4, 1941 -  December 19, 2022

On Monday December 19, 2022, Melvyn Noricazu Tsuji passed away at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife Kimiko, son Mark, daughter Julia (Guillaume), daughter Lindsay (Julien) and son Trevor (Tara). Loving grandpa and papio to Mika, Camille and Noémie; much-loved brother to Naomi (deceased) and Ellen Tak (Dennis); brother-in-law to Bob (deceased) and Ken (deceased); former husband to Edith (deceased) and Gloria; loving uncle to Corliss (Mark) and their kids Ben and Violet, Leslie (deceased), Paige (Rob) and their kids Ruby and Paisley, and Quinn. Mel enjoyed sharing his love of hockey, baseball and golf with friends and family. He had a long career as a journalist in Tokyo and Toronto, and later as a journalism professor at Humber College. Mel was also an active member of the Japanese-Canadian community. Visitation will take place at Elgin Mills Funeral Centre on Friday December 30 at 1 pm, followed by a service at 2 pm and a reception from 3-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, Sunnybrook Foundation, Diabetes Canada or the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.

Mel and I were the same age and contemporaries at public school and J.C.I. My late husband and he shared many interests. I remember him with admiration and respect and extend sincere condolences to his family and friends.
