In memory of

Mei Sim Tom

September 22, 1945 -  October 27, 2023

Born in China and raised in Macau, Mei Sim Cheang began her journey as a beacon of resilience and grace. Her early years were marked by a passion for education, leading her to become a dedicated grade school teacher, shaping young minds and igniting a love for learning.

In 1970, she embraced a new chapter of life by marrying Yam Kwong Tom and embarking on an adventure that took her across the globe to Montreal. This transition marked the beginning of a beautiful legacy. Her devotion to family nurtured her children Jerry, Jana, and Jade fostering a sense of unity and love. She relocated to Toronto in 1987, reuniting with her parents and siblings: Felipe, Ana, and Helena. Her home became a haven where love, laughter, and cherished memories flourished. As she expanded her family tree, she welcomed 6 grandchildren: Nathan, Emerson, Jasmine, Jessie, Skyler, and Ryder. Her heart swelled with pride, witnessing her legacy continue through each generation.

Mei Sim Tom was more than a daughter, a wife, a mother, or a grandmother. She always put the family first before herself, guiding her family through life's storms with love as her compass. Her story a testament to strength and tenderness will be carried forward in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. She had a passion for life’s simple pleasures and found joy in the finer things, savoring cuisine, indulging in mahjong, watching Chinese dramas, and cherishing moments of social interaction with friends and family.

Today, as we celebrate her life, let us cherish the memories, wisdom, and the love she shared with us. As we bid her a peaceful farewell, her spirit lives on through her children, grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched—a legacy that will last forever.

In loving memory of Mei Sim, the family would appreciate donations to Sunnybrook Hospital in place of floral arrangements.
