In memory of

Mavis Schwyrie

August 28, 1934 -  March 2, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mavis Schwyrie, née Harmer, on March 2, 2023. Loving mother to Craig (Antonette) and the late Kieran (Kate). She is now with her beloved son Kieran, brother Bill (Mary) and sisters Iris and Joan. She will be missed by her grandson Mackenzie, her cat Maggie and her family and friends.

Mavis enjoyed bird watching, was a prolific reader and an amazing knitter. She was passionate about animal welfare and had a menagerie of pets from when she was a young girl. Above all, she loved gardening. It was her passion. She spent countless hours planning her garden, nurturing her beautiful flowers and plants and sharing her gardening tips with friends and family.

A private service will take place at Thornton Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres in Oshawa on Wednesday March 15.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favourite animal shelter or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (https://www.lls.org).

Jadzia & I really saddened by the news. Seems like your mom, Craig, has been around forever. She was a great friend & neighbor and always stayed in touch throughout the years even as people moved on and away. I loved her peanut butter sandwich lunches with you at #187. She will be truly missed. Rich
