MAUREEN ELIZABETH O'NEILL
May 8th, 1934 - January 31st, 2025
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Maureen Elizabeth O'Neill on January 31st at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, aged 90 years. Predeceased by her husband James (Jimmy) O'Neill. Cherished mother of Doreen (O'Neill) (Greg) Pashkoff. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her granddaughters Danielle (Leland Yip) Pashkoff and Vanessa (Alex Smith) Pashkoff. Granny to Kaiya, Lachlan, Violet and Cade. There was nothing that brought her more joy than her granddaughters and great grandchildren. Her granddaughters have fond memories with her as children playing in her lilac garden, picking and eating tomatoes and eating the icing off her coffee cakes. She always made them feel special!
Sister to Robby, Joey, Johnny, Walter all deceased and Doreen. She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She filled each of her years with energy and faced life with strength and resilience - as one friend said "She is a tough old bird". She is known for her love of gardening, a potato and Irish bread expert, committed knitter and a devoted Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune fan.
Mom has had many friends from many different circles all her life and those included the Ulster Accordion Band, The Sons and Daughters of Ireland Protestant Association and the 36th Ulster Association. Maureen had a special group of angels who watched and looked after her- this includes those who called her everyday for a wee chat and lots of jokes and laughter; a weekly Wednesday devoted visitor; a reminder phone call on Sundays for the Irish program; a weekly call from Ireland to catch up on all the news; a table mate who always helped her every day and Lucy is welcoming her Ethel with open arms. Mom also had friends at Chartwell Colonial who spent precious time with her. Her family would like to thank the Colonial team for taking such good care of Mom. We will all cherish the time we had with her. We love you Nan may the road rise to meet you.
In memory of Maureen and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and Parkinson Canada. Thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Lakeridge Oshawa Health and Dr. Watson her family doctor, for their care and support of Maureen.
