Matthew Man Lui

October 5, 1940 -  September 3, 2016

Matthew Man Lui was born October 5, 1940 in Hong Kong. He is the third child of four and the only son to Kin and Kau-On. His sisters, Awe and Yuen, still reside in Hong Kong while his sister, Fong, resides in Toronto. While in Hong Kong Matthew worked for the Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) and was also a constable in the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force.

In 1969, Matthew immigrated to Canada with the sponsorship from his sister, Fong, and brother in-law, John Lum. He furthered his education at Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (University) in accounting along with other technical courses.

In 1973, Matthew married Christina Wai-Chu Ha. Together they raised 2 sons, Alvin and Brian.
Matthew spent the remainder of his career working for The Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids) and later Wellesley Hospital.

In 1996, Matthew and his wife became members of The Mission of Tao-Confucianism and volunteered in the administration of the temple.

After a 5 month battle with lung cancer, Matthew passed away on September 3rd, 2016 with his family by his side. He leaves behind his loving wife, his 2 sons, their respective wives, Michelle and My An and grandchildren, Jazzlyn, Kaden and Katelyn.
