In memory of

Mary Viola Geraldine "Vi" Willenberg

February 12, 2017

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Viola (Vi) on Sunday 12 February 2017.

Beloved wife of Christopher Ronald (Ron) Willenberg. Daughter of Joseph Godfrey Robert (Jack) Howard and Dagmar Catherine Howard (née Williams). Sister of Elmo (Zinniah) Howard (deceased), Rosemarie (Tony) Fernando, Duff (Veronica) Howard, Fairlyn (Dudley) Dulling. Beloved Mum of Christopher, Warren (Susie) & Joanna. Much loved Nana of Juliette. She was born in Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) on 15 May 1934.

After qualifying as a nurse in Ceylon, she left to further her nursing studies in England where she married, settled down & started a family. She had a busy life working as a registered nurse, midwife and public health visitor. She and Ron eventually settled in Toronto, Canada where they raised their family. A kind, generous person with a huge heart, she loved a good joke, singing out loud to her favourite songs and had an infectious laugh. She also had a healing touch and exuded a genuine warmth that always made people feel loved. Vi had a strong, indomitable spirit and a keen artistic nature.

She will be greatly missed by family and numerous friends scattered around the world. A private family ceremony will be held this week with a memorial service and celebration of life to follow:

Saturday, May 27th, 11 AM
Pine Hills Funeral Centre and Cemetery
625 Birchmount Road
Toronto, ON M1K 1R1
416-267-8229

Vi was a generous soul and supported numerous charities. If you would like to make an In Memoriam donation in her name, we've selected the following charities from her long list of supported causes, but feel free to choose one of your own.
