In memory of

Mary Teresa Dodgson

October 16, 1934 -  August 15, 2024

Mary's life was a testament to her unwavering Catholic faith, love, kindness, humour, and strength. Mary was the most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left us peacefully with her loving daughter, Claire by her side on August 15, 2024 at the Houses of Providence. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ernest (Ernie) of over 70 years; children, Terry (died 2007), Julie (Peter), Claire, and Ernie (Cathy); ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her brother, David McNiff along with several nieces and nephews. She was born on October 16, 1934 in St. Thomas, Ontario and after the death of her father in 1937, moved to Yorkshire, England where she was raised by her mother and became part of a loving blended family with 13 siblings. Mary and Ernie married in 1954 in England and immigrated to Canada in 1955 with their first born, Terry and were blessed with three more children in Toronto. Together, they built a life of deep faith, love, tenderness and experiences. She made everyone feel special and taught through example; her love was boundless, and she dedicated herself to the happiness and well-being of others. Her undeniable impact will be her legacy in so many. Her beautiful gentle soul has left a trail of memories full of love and joy that will be cherished forever. Mary was very talented. She loved to read, write, sketch, paint, practice calligraphy and furthered these passions by taking lessons. Mary was an avid gardener. Her backyard was her oasis where she spent hours and much enjoyment achieving its beauty which was admired by so many. Mary's family is truly grateful to the staff at the Houses of Providence for their warmth and kindness in caring for her during her time there. Visitation will be held at PINE HILLS CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 625 Birchmount Rd., Toronto, 416-267-8229 on Saturday, August 31st from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by her Funeral at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Houses of Providence Foundation. https://stmichaelsfoundation.com/MaryDodgson
