In memory of

Mary Elizabeth Smith

December 31, 1952 -  December 4, 2025

Mary passed away on December 4, 2025 in her 73rd year. She has left this world to re-join her parents, Edgar and Mary Jane, and her husband Keith. She remains in the hearts of her sister-in-laws Karen (Gerald) and Kathy, nieces Sarah (Salomon) and Emily (Kris), nephew Paul (Shannon), great niece Sadie, and long time friend Robi (Rick). Many thanks to Magdalene (Ron), Monika, and Susan for their support and care throughout Mary’s life and for helping to ease her final journey.

The Village of Humber Heights was Mary’s home for the last few years. She had a beautiful, sunny apartment that overlooked charming houses and majestic trees that gave her so much joy. She was cared for with much dignity.

Mary was born and raised in Toronto and received a BA from Carleton University. She had a love of animals from an early age, especially dogs. She and her husband cared for many dogs over the years and travelled extensively. Mary spent much of her time at her family cottage on Lake Simcoe and made many wonderful memories there.

She had a smile for everyone. Memorial donations can be made to an animal charity of your choice.

A Funeral Service will be held for Mary at York Funeral Centre on December 19th, 2025. The visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. for family and friends.

My memories of Mary are childhood.
Together Mary's family and mine would get together on Christmas day. We would laugh and play then enjoy a turkey dinner prepared by my mother and Aunt Maisie.
Another memory is getting togethet in the spring to open up the cottage at Lake Simcoe for the summer. It was a connection to my relatives on my mother's side.
Oh the fun we had!!

Dear Mary: Today was your funeral and I am still shocked that you have passed from this world. You were too young and it was too soon in my opinion. I remember the 3 of us as children seated at the "kids' table" safely surrounded by parents and grandparents. I remember the two of us as adults up at the cottage with your parents and Keith eating fresh corn with a light breeze coming off the lake. I remember staying at your home in Orleans and Gypsy swallowing whole the cream cheese wrapped in plastic I left on the kitchen counter while I answered your front door. Now you are with Keith and our parents and grandparents and hopefully heaven includes dogs. Love Maureen
