In memory of

Mary Catanzaro

April 2, 1952 -  September 11, 2020

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Catanzaro announces her passing on Friday, September 11, 2020, at the age of 68 years old. Mary is predeceased by her loving husband John Catanzaro and her parents Antonietta and Corrado Morale, Giuseppina and Vincenzo Morale. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Antonio Lavorato, children John Paul Catanzaro (Maria) and Anna Maria Catanzaro (Andrea Pellizzari), stepchildren Fred Lavorato (Jennifer) and Teresa Calabria (Tom), grandchildren Isabella, Jenna, Annabella, Angelica and John, and step-grandchildren Tommy, Mia and Michael. Mary will also be fondly remembered by her siblings Joseph Morale (Pina), Salvina Cugno (the late Sebastiano), Paolo Morale (the late Rosalba) and Enza Addorisio (Phill), as well as her many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary was born in a small town in southern Sicily called Pachino and came to Canada at the age of 6. She grew up in Toronto where she met her husband John. They were married in 1970 and were blessed with two children, John Paul and Anna Maria. At the young age of 35 years old, Mary lost her husband to colon cancer and had to raise her children on her own. She continued to work hard at the Royal Bank of Canada and after 30 years, she retired and met her husband Antonio Lavorato. She spent many wonderful years travelling with Tony and enjoying her grandchildren. In 2016, she was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer called primary myelofibrosis. When the medical system gave up on her, Mary took the fight into her own hands and was able to beat the odds, blessing family and friends with one more year of her beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed, gone too soon but never forgotten.
