Marvin Allen Johnson
January 3, 1935 – April 22, 2022

With sad hearts, we say goodbye to our husband, father, papa, and great-papa. Marvin Johnson passed away on April 22, 2022, at the Michael Garron Hospital (Toronto East General) in Toronto. However, we rejoice to know that he has gone on to meet his heavenly Father, who he served so faithfully for his 87 years.

Marvin is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Mildred, his son Kerry (Heather), daughter Dianne Gardner (Christopher), and son Scott (Doris) along with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Hermon (1993) and Nell (1993) Johnson and his brother Alvin Johnson (2021).

Marvin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he also trained to be an electrician. He married Mildred Hobbs in October 1956 and they began to raise their family in Winnipeg. After working as an electrician for several years, he made the decision to go into the ministry. The family moved to Toronto in 1969 to work with the Strathmore Blvd. Church of Christ. After serving the congregation as its minister and evangelist for over a decade, Marvin went back to working in the electrical industry, but continued to serve as an elder and leader with the Strathmore congregation until his death.

Within his church community, Marvin had many interests for service. Closest to his heart were Strathmore Blvd. Church of Christ (Toronto, ON), Great Lakes Christian High School (Beamsville, ON), Great Lakes Bible College (Waterloo, ON), Camp Omagh (West Milton, ON) and Grove Park Home (Barrie, ON) for whom he served on its Board of Directors for over 45 years.

Marvin will be greatly missed by his wife, family, and all who had the privilege of meeting him.

For those who are unable to join the family in person . A livestream of the funeral service will commence at 12:45pm, on Saturday May 21, 2022 via a link at the top of this Memorial page. A recording will also be available after the recording has been completed .
