Martin Hummel

October 24, 1936 -  July 10, 2025

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Martin Hummel on July 10, 2025 at the age of 88. He was born on October 24, 1936 in Nova Pazova, Yugoslavia. He arrived in Canada in his youth.
He was married to his beloved wife Linda for 66 years. Cherished Father to Len (Cathy) and Ingrid Waine (Allan). He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his 6 grandchildren, Nathan Hummel, Amanda Armstrong (Aaron), Joshua Hummel, Ryan Waine (Aleena), Andrew Waine (Natasha), Rayanna Waine. He thoroughly enjoyed his 2 Great Grandsons, Noah and Joseph Armstrong. When he arrived in Canada in his Youth, he started working with his father at Hummel and Son, in painting and construction. He was a skilled painter like no other. Though he had no post secondary Education, his proficient language skills excelled him to work in the Newspaper Business. His career highlight was working for his much esteemed Globe and Mail, in the Report on Business Section as a Copy Editor for 27 years. He was hard working, gentle, kind hearted, had a great sense of humor, and was always looking for ways to help others. He had a deep faith In God, and lived his life with integrity and humility.

We miss him deeply.
He is now rejoicing in Heaven with his Lord and Saviour.
One day we will be with him again.
We know the Best is yet to come. For Martin that Best is now.

My wife (Connie) and I have known Martin for many years as a fellow attendees at the same church. Martin was always so friendly and kind. He always asked about our family and was very encouraging. He will be very missed. Happy he is now with the Lord. Much love and prayers for the family and our condolences.

I met Martin and Linda in approximately 2009, and was immediately struck by their kind, gentle manner. Martin's deep commitment to Jesus Christ was obvious and he was a clear example of someone who lives in the presence of his Saviour, representing Him well to those around him. Heaven's gain is our loss, but his beautiful Linda will see him again...that is sure. May God comfort and strengthen you, giving you peace that passes all understanding. Much love, Julia Loewen
