With deep sorrow we announce the passing of nurserywoman and artist Marjorie Ruth Hancock. At the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga on June 4, not long after a joyous 84th birthday. She lived most of her life at her beloved Hancock Woodlands.
Marjorie Hancock was an Associate of the Ontario College of Art and member, Ontario Association of Landscape Architects. She worked at Toronto Public Library and Project Planning, and had a long career as co-manager of Woodland Nurseries. Skilled in horticulture, she had a lifelong interest in progressive architecture and landscape design and brought much beauty to her life and community.
Predeceased by parents Marcus Leslie Hancock and Dorothy Daisy Macklin Hancock, and brother Macklin Leslie Hancock, she will be dearly missed by sons Mark Griffiths Van Alstyne and Gregory Reed Van Alstyne, grandson Maximus Oginski Van Alstyne, brother Donald William Hancock, sister-in-law Grace Fraser Hancock, and her loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A memorial gathering of family, friends and neighbours will be held at THE SIMPLE ALTERNATIVE, 1535 South Gateway Rd., Mississauga ON L4W 5J1 on June 14, 2016 between 4 and 8 pm. Remarks of remembrance by family at 6:30 pm.
