Marilyn Villareal Parreno, age 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3rd, 2018, at Providence Healthcare, Victoria Park and St. Clair in Toronto, Canada. She was born September 26, 1949, in Iloilo City, Philippines to Primitivo "Tibong" Villareal and Consolacion Buenafe both were native of Capiz, Mambusao and Pan-ay respectively. She was an alumnus of Notre Dame of General Santos in high school and finished a Bachelor of Science in Biology in one of the universities in Manila. She married Roberto Parreno and spent 7 years of her life in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, from where her daughters, Mary Ellinelle and Robelyn were born. Roberto's job as a statistician of a pharmaceutical company required frequent move so when they settled in Cebu City in 1977, another daughter was born and they named her, Mae Anne. The fourth daughter, April Rose was born ,when Roberto again was sent back to Bacolod City. Something came up in 1979 and the whole family finally settled down in Iloilo City, and the fifth child, a son, Romar John was born in 1980. Marilyn became a widow in 1988, and with 5 kids left in her care. She was 33 years old. The children's grandfather, Estelito Sr. stepped up and encouraged the rest of Roberto's siblings, Herminigildo Parreno, Sally Mong (nee Harry), Elizabeth Parreno, and Eden Geva to help out and raise 5 children. She spent most of her time cooking as she owned a small cafeteria back then. She managed a boarding house which became a home to hundreds and hundreds of college student who lived far away. She became a Mom to everyone. Her life was full of ups and downs as the children turned into adults. She spent a couple of years in Sultan Kudarat, in Mindanao, and when everything was settled, she went back to Iloilo in the year 2000. She gets along with people wherever she go. She left them with beautiful memories that until now, she was still Mom to everyone whose lives she touched, may it be in the Philippines and Canada. She was a constant church goer, she had built relationship with the JDCC community, a lovable and caring friend to some, an over-protective mother to her children. She is survived by her 4 daughters and her son, sisters, Perla Abeto, Violeta Quema, and Dolores Villareal, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
