In memory of

Marian Darlow

January 21, 1923 -  August 16, 2020

Marian Mary Darlow (nee Preece) passed away peacefully in her 97th year at Seven Oaks Long Term Care Home in Scarborough. Beloved wife of the late Fredrick Darlow (1996). Cherished mom of Bob Darlow & Debbie Christof of Pickering, Jim & Rejane Darlow of Pickering, and Jayne & Tony Van Gerven of Arthur. Dearly loved grandmother of Steven, Andre, Stefanie, David, Jeff, Brian, Marlow, & Alana. Great grandmother of Avery, Logan, Olivia, Scarlett, Easton, Grace, Zoey, Kataliln, Madden & Carson. Predeceased by her parents Ernest and Mary Preece, her siblings Betty Pridham and Jack Preece, her daughter in law Cathy Darlow, and her grandson Scott Van Gerven.

Born and raised in Toronto, Mom was proud to say she was from “Tronna” as she claimed true Torontonians would call the city. She spent many summers at the family cottage on Chandos Lake and took great pride in keeping the cottage immaculate. She loved to swim and would often be seen lying on her back in the lake swimming the backstroke, with her blue bathing cap and all, bobbing along the water.
She had many prominent jobs over her years of life working with many different levels of government, which she was always so proud of, and would not miss the opportunity to tell any one of us that these jobs were of the upmost importance and highly confidential, top security positions that she held.
But we truly knew that her most prominent job and most important job of all, was that of Mom. One that she excelled at. Her family was her life, and her perseverance and determination was seen by us all, teaching us that we are never to give up, and to always give it your all, like she did every day of her life. We would like to express our sincere thanks to the staff at Seven Oaks Long Term Care Home in Scarborough for their exceptional care towards our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ontario Brain Institute or charity of choice. Online condolences can be made at www.etouch.ca

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Auntie Marian will always hold a very special place in my heart, as she did with her siblings. Mom loved her sister and her brother so very much. Now they are together again. I am sure Uncle Fred was waiting with open arms! Our deepest condolences to my cousins and their families. Auntie Marian will be sorely missed by all of us who loved her.
