I enjoyed the 30 years of knowing Maria. She was a kind and gentle mother-in-law and I always felt welcome with her. This last year was difficult for Marion (her daughter) and I as we could not visit like we wanted. The pandemic certainly affected the way families could visit. Marion to her credit established a weekly Zoom call with Maria which was a real plus. Maria really enjoyed visiting by Zoom especially with our dog Mojo. She will be missed.
I hadn’t visited my beautiful mother for over a year and with COVID and the U.S./Canada border closed, I doubted I ever would again. We had our weekly Zoom meetings and I could see that she was barely hanging on. I anticipated that dreaded call that I knew would one day come. Despite that, it’s no less a shock to hear that the most special and unique relationship with a loved one who played a huge role in shaping your life is suddenly gone. I will forever hold her in my heart. She faced so much hardship and heartache in her life and yet she was kind hearted, generous, strong, and grounded. I feel comfort knowing that my last words to her were ‘I love you Mama’.
I am so sorry to hear of your Mom's death, she was a warm and caring person who I liked very much. I can remember how she loved to cook and bake and was so good at it. I also remember how she and my mother liked to talk, maybe because they were from the same era.I have missed seeing her over the years, I am so sorry for your loss.

Maria was more than a friend, she knew me since I was a small child, almost like a mom. I will miss her support, understanding and love. My heart felt condolences to Susie, Ralph and Marion.
The news of Marias death has shocked us deeply. We grew up with the family Drosd, they were like a second family for us. Because of distance we couldn't see each other, but instead we enjoyed the regular phone calls with her. Please know that we are thinking of you at this sad time and share in your grief.
We will miss you, Maria!
