Passed away quietly on Jan 11, 2019 at the age of 93. Maria was the beloved wife of Kirils (deceased) and is survived by her two sons, Peter (Carolyn) and Edgar(Ilene), and one grand-child Teika. She will also be missed by Dr Inese Flude and Andris Cernavskis and their families.

Maria was born in Riga, Latvia on November 22, 1925, the only child of Anna and Arturs Jansons. She had a happy childhood, until Latvia was occupied in 1940 and her father was executed by the Soviets in 1941. In 1944, Maria and her mother, left Latvia for Germany, and subsequently immigrated to Canada. Maria settled in Toronto, completed dentistry at the University of Toronto in 1960, and started a family.
