Maria Odorico

November 22, 1927 - January 22, 2024

ODORICO, MARIA (nee ZANETTE).
She passed away peacefully in her 97th year in the city of Ajax due to complications from stroke. Maria was born in Azzano-Decimo Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1952 where she met her future husband soon after arriving. They lived in Hamilton, moved to Toronto and then settled in Scarborough. Maria lived a modest life always caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, nonna, and bisnonna. Maria will be deeply missed by her children, Loren (Hugh), Enzo (Sandra), Denis (Tammy), her cherished grandchildren, Paul (Robin), Michelle (David), Kevin, Danielle, Taylor, David, Joshua, and great grandchildren, Jayde, Noah, Luke, Abigail, Samuel, Lucy, Olive, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Her family would like to thank everyone at Viva Pickering who touched her life the past 11 years.
Maria is pre-deceased by her loving husband Adelio (Odorico), father Giorgio (Zanette), mother Alice (Chiaradia), and brothers Francesco, Enzo and Rino (Zanette).
A visitation will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. & Friday, January 26, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery.

I've known Maria since I was 6 years old. She was a lovely woman - always gracious and welcoming. She did a wonderful job caring for her children and extended family and helped make such wonderful memories for her children and their friends.

Heartfelt condolences to the Odorico and Zanette families. Maria was a dear friend to my mother, Virginia. We all admired her energy, love and spirit. Many fond childhood memories of Maria and our trips to Scarborough to visit Maria and Adelio and to spend time with the whole family. They were wonderful times.
She was a kind and generous person and will be truly missed by many.
