In memory of

Maria Kendl

November 29, 1927 -  June 16, 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Kendl on June 16th, 2022 at 94 years of age. Born in Viskoci Croatia, November 29, 1927, to parents Emil and Anna Zimprich, wife to Daniel Kendl. She will be missed by her daughter Annemarie McKee (Doug) and Danielle McKay (John), grandchildren Jeff, David (Liz), James (Barb), Adam (Nathalie) and Lianne (Adam), her great-grand children Dawson, Zachery, Jacob and Natasha McKee, Avery and Hunter McKay and Kendl and Brock Underwood. She also leaves behind her brother, Frank Zimprich.

Mom was extremely proud of her Canadian Citizenship. She worked hard to make a life for her family here in Canada working as a housekeeper, developing a close bond with the Friedman family. She always made time for friends and family and was proud of her Danube Swabian German heritage. She loved unconditionally and with all her heart. Her grandchildren and great-grand children brought her pure joy. Maria went by a few names including Maria and Mary but to most of us our favorite was Oma.

Many thanks to Dr. Bordman and the amazing team at Lakeridge Health, case worker Kerri Ann Ross and Nurse Brittany Blohm. Our family is thankful to Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry who made her last days so comfortable for her, as well as our family as we said goodbye.

Friends and family will be received at Pine Hills 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough on June 21st, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9-10 am with a service to follow at 10 am. The family is asking in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in memory of Maria to the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry.

Mary was my godmother & our relationship goes back to 1947 when she & Danny & my parents found themselves in a Displaced Persons Camp in Austria. Though distance kept them apart once they were in America, they maintained an enduring friendship. After my mom died in 2011, Mary would be sure to call me every year for my birthday. She will be sorely missed. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to her family, all of whom she loved dearly. May She Rest In Peace.
