It is with profound sadness that the family of Maria Haros announce her untimely passing on November 26, 2019 at The Scarborough Hospital, Birchmount Campus at the age of 67.
Maria was born on August 21, 1952 in Skopi, Tripoleos, Greece.
She was the devoted wife of Bill Haros and loving mother to daughter Kathy Gardanis (Tommy), daughter Besy Karantzoulis (Gus), daughter Penny Bouzaranidis (Niko) and son George Haros. She was also the proud grandmother to Niko, Billy, Hari, Maria and Panayioti.
Pre-deceased by her sister, Alexandra Trahanas, Maria leaves behind her sister, Christina Papoutsis, brother Demetri Siakotos and many beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, koumbari and friends.
Maria took pride in the simple things in life, maintaining her garden, creating beautiful crochet pieces that she shared with her daughters and proudly displayed in her impeccably kept home. She loved to cook for her family and friends and her moussaka and melamokarona were unmatched. Her grandkids always looked forward to enjoying yiayia's avgolemano soupa!
Maria devoted her life to her family and raising her four children. When her own children were grown, she continued to nurture young ones through her work at a neighborhood day care centre. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 – “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
May her memory be forever eternal.
